History of The Fox Theater from foxfullerton.orgThe Fox Fullerton Theatre has a pedigree – it was built by the firm of Meyer and Holler in 1925, during the peak of their popularity. They were well known for their lavish designs, prestigious clients and clever innovations, such as the “court theatre” concept, a feature that is an integral part of the Fox. Although they built hundreds of structures, it was primarily their 1920′s Hollywood buildings that established their fame; buildings such as Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, the Hollywood Athletic Club, and the Cafe’ Montmarte. Having also built many movie studios, it can be said that Meyer and Holler may have been the firm most responsible for giving architectural form to the early entertainment industry in Southern California.
The Fox was built as a vaudeville and silent movie house by prominent local businessman C. Stanley Chapman, and was originally named Chapman’s Alician Court Theatre in honor of his wife, Alice Ellen.
Through the years, the theatre changed owners and names several times. After a 62-year run, the Fox Fullerton closed in 1987. After a successful campaign to purchase the property and save it from demolition in the early 2000′s, plans took shape to rebuild, renovate and bring the Fox Theatre to life again.

Haunted Fox
Since its closing in 1987 the Fox Theater has become known as a place where spirits dwell. There have been numerous investigations over the years and stories of apparitions, voices, people being touched by unseen hands, cold spots and even foot steps of unseen feet on the stage.
Sara is one of the better known spirits of the Fox. She is believed to be the young daughter of a former vaudevillian stage actor. It is unknown as to why her spirit is believed to haunt the theater.
If you find a dime on a chair of the third row from the front of the auditorium, please do not pick it up. The story is that dime is a lure to unsuspecting potential hosts who will be housing a unwanted guest in their apartment or house for the night. The ghost of a hobo who it is believed died in the basement of the theater. The story is the hobo spends the night in the abode of the unwitting host and then returns to the theater in the morning to set his trap for another potential overnight friend. It is said that skeletal remains of a man were found in a room, in the basement of the theater and they may have belonged to this hobo. This story is unconfirmed at this time.
Hanging around is the spirit of a young man named Tim. Tim may have hanged himself in the women's bathroom. According to our communications with Tim during our Ouija board session, he may have been in his early thirties and his untimely demise may have taken place in 1934. This is unconfirmed as of this writing.
Many transient spirits are believed to occupy the Fox Theater from time to time. They have no real connection to the theater but wonder in. Perhaps from the surrounding neighborhoods or city streets of Fullerton. The Experience
Friday October 24, 2014 was a week before the annual Halloween holiday. Each year JoJo Wright of KIIS FM 102.7 on your FM dial, does a Halloween show in which a haunted site is investigated, live on the air during the show. This year it was the Fox Theater in Fullerton California. JoJo and other investigators have visited the Fox in previous years. Our team was made up of paranormal investigators Marcus Lindsey and Clare Benavides (soon to be Mrs. Lindsey) of Paranormal EXP, well known medium Victoria Gross, author, archeologist and well known paranormal researcher Rob Wlodarski and, independent paranormal investigator Gerald Reynolds (yours truly) and our host JoJo Wright of KIIS FM.

The investigators were spread through out the theater. We covered the former dressing room area under the main stage, next to the orchestra pit, the stage itself, the lower auditorium and the upper balcony area, the basement in the front of the theater under the lobby area and the projection room. More will be talked about of the investigation itself in another story. Here we are focusing on the Ouija board session.
I was down in the basement doing some Echovox work when JoJo and Victoria showed up and then Rob. I forget who had the Ouija but, they all made their way back into this void which was perhaps part of the furnace for the theater. I was doing playback at the time and did not join them in there immediately. As I stood in the outer basement room area I could hear them talking. While standing there I heard a female voice very clearly say "I am here". I asked Victoria if she said this and she confirmed that she did not say it.
Making my way back into the void area to join them I had to pass through a tunnel area of sheet metal with two partitions bordering the tunnel. As I walked through I banged into one of the partitions and the sound was your typical tin can reverberating type sound you would expect. Keep this in mind as this comes into play just as we are setting up and about to begin the Ouija session.

As we set up for the session, JoJo sitting in the corner of the area, Victoria next to him, I next to Victoria and Rob facing both of them, Marcus and Clare came in last and joined us. Rob and JoJo and Victoria were discussing how the Ouija board session was to be executed for the show when Rob dropped whatever was in is hand and, as he reached over to pick it up, Clare, Marcus and I heard a slight bang come from the tunnel / partition area. As you recall from earlier in this writing, I mentioned, having bumped into the partition myself as I entered this area. The sound which we just heard was just like the sound created when I bumped into the partition. We all expected to see somebody walking in but, nobody came through. Marcus called out to whomever was there but, there was no reply. Marcus raised up and went back through the tunnel, calling out to whomever. When he came back he said there was nobody there.
Below here is the video of this taking place. You will hear a male voice say "Somebody took a shot at me" just as we are discussing the bang and at the end while Clare is talking you will hear someone humming as she talks.

After the incident of the banging sound things moved right along and we began our Ouija board session. As you heard and saw, Rob said a prayer to block out any unwanted malevolent and unfriendly spirits from joining us. Victoria began the session with herself, Marcus and Rob all touching the planchette,
from Wikipedia we learn that A planchette ( /plɑːnˈʃɛt/ or /plænˈʃɛt/), from the French for "little plank", is a small, usually heart-shaped flat piece of wood equipped with two wheeled castors and a pencil-holding aperture, used to facilitate automatic writing.
Victoria began asking for any spirits to communicate with us. Just prior to learning the identity of our first ethereal guest on the video you will see below of the complete session a unknown male voice says "Tim" and there are three knocks. Now, in discussing the three knocks with our medium, Ms. Victoria and our author Rob they feel the knocks are only confirming knocks. My concern to them was we have heard that in such circumstances three knocks may be a mocking of the Holy Trinity. Both Victoria and Rob assured me that nothing either malevolent or evil has ever been detected within the theater on previous investigations.
As we continue, a young man named Tim makes himself known to our group by spelling his name. After some discussion as to what to ask him, Victoria asks what year was he at the theater. The planchette moving first indicated a "1" and then it moved to a "9" followed by a "3" and a "4". 1934 was the year Tim was last at the theater during his life. "How did you die Tim?" First there was an "R". Moving steadily the planchette or "little Plank" indicates an "E" and then a "P". Rep? What does that mean? "Respiratory" I suggested. None of us were sure. Rob and Victoria both asked Tim to say again how he passed away. "R" and then "O". Next came "P" and as the planchette moved to "E" Rob took his finger off and exclaimed he was chilled! Suicide! At this point Rob went onto tell us that a story was relayed to him by the administrator of the theater about a young man who had hung himself in the women's bathroom upstairs. As we further communicated with Tim we learned that Tim said he knew Sara, the young girl who was the daughter of one of the vaudevillian actors which had performed at the theater. Tim said that Sara was his girl friend.
Our session next focused on Sara and we made contact with her. Sara told us that she indeed was the daughter of a vaudevillian actor and that she was 14 years old and Tim was her boyfriend. Also that she was at the Theater in 1925 which is the year the theater opened.
Marcus and Clare said that Jim was a name they had learned earlier in the evening and that he may have had an affair with Sara's mother. None of this is confirmed at this time.
Sara was asked if she had been dancing on the main stage earlier in the evening when the group had been doing an EVP session and they asked whomever to dance for them. I was down below in the former dressing room area and could hear what sounded like a bunch of people walking above me on stage. When I went upstairs to the stage, the other were in the corner by a large table and none of them had been walking on the stage.
Sara was asked during the Ouija session if she knew who was dancing on the stage and the name Diane was given to us. Sara indicated that Diane was her mother. Then the planchette moved to the word "goodbye" and she left.
One attempt was made to contact Diane but not much came of it. One interesting thing that happened was that the planchette moved to the "J" and then the "O" and then the "J" and then the "O" again. JoJo!
It called out our host. It was at this time the session came to an end.
We all look forward to investigating the theater in future days to come. Please view the full session on video below here. Until next time...............
